What is the purpose of the Hand Up Initiative?
To identify, encourage, and empower clients to gain significantly greater levels of financial independence and self-sufficiency.
The Hand Up Initiative provides client-centered, comprehensive case management, enhanced intake assessments, individualized service plans and expanded service delivery through an outcomes-driven collaboration of community service providers.
Supportive services include formal curriculum and instruction opportunities in areas of education, employment, parenting skills, stress counseling, nutrition, and financial literacy.
Long-term solutions for at-risk situations are developed with clients facing a financial crisis. Clients are asked to present evidence of experiencing a crisis which may include homelessness, risk of homelessness, illiteracy, alcoholism, past substance abuse, victim of a fire, natural or man-made disaster.
CAC professionals and partners are dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty. By providing more choices for low income families in the community, we open the doors of education, housing and work opportunities. Thus, the foundation for understanding, accountability and empowerment leads to long-term solutions not just a quick fix.
